Viviana’s B&B, at 850 m. of altitude, is in the quiet hamlet of Monteduro 5 min drive from Castelnovo ne’ Monti and near to the State Road SS63 that joins the Po Valley to Tuscany passing through the whole mountain territory. Coming from Milan , Verona or Venice (however from the North), this is the fastest panoramic route to reach Cinque Terre, Lucca , Pisa and Florence (without taking the motorway) crossing a territory with enchanting, natural landscapes. Castelnovo ne’ Monti is the main hub and virtual nerve centre in the entire Apennine Mountains of Reggio Emilia, you will find several supermarkets including a Co-op, big fashionable shops, banks, a post office, an hospital, a theatre which also provide a first class cinema, ice cream shops, but above all a great feeling of hospitality and a true zest for life. The jewel in its crown is the magnificent Bismantova plateau which really captures the tranquil beauty of the Apennine Mountains.
Emilia Romagna is without doubt the region where Italy’s best food is produced.The local specialities, famous throughout the world, include Parmesan Cheese (take a visit to the local diary 3 min walk from the B&B where Parmesan is made), Parma ham, lasagne, balsamic vinegar and tortelli staffed with meat, vegetables and herbs. Lambrusco is the most renowned wine produced from the local vineyards.
The area has a multitude of amazing restaurants and trattorias where you can get a 5 course meal with wine under 15 Euro each. Eating in a good and healthy way in Reggio’s Apennine is surely easy! Moreover, for the culinary expert mushrooms can be picked up in the surrounding woodlands.For the motorbike and car enthusiasts we are a short drive to Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and Ducati museum. The little town is provided with all modern facilities for sports from a centre of athletics to swimming pools, tennis, basket, volleyball courts, football pitch, bowls area, lakes for fishing competitions and a few specialized equestrian centres with riding schools.
